Greetings Members!

When I initially joined the Malaysian Menopause Society, I was either a participant in MMS activities or receiving the ‘perks’ for being a member. However, since becoming a secretary of this society, I have found myself either becoming involved in organising activities or ensuring that the members are receiving their ‘perks’.

To be able to do the above, first I had to ensure that the members’ database was updated regularly. The biggest problem was to track down the defaulters who had not paid their annual subscription from the year 2005 onwards. This was both a challenge as well as a daunting task. It was a slow and tedious process for Ms. Hee. From mid 2007 until end of 2007, she spent most of her time “weeding” out the names of these members from within the database or updating the information. To complete this task, a letter will be sent out with the Berita Menopos, to all annual members requesting them to update their payments. Please ignore the letter if you have already paid your dues for 2008. If you haven’t, then please submit your payment to the secretariat (Ms. Hee) as soon as possible.

Simultaneously, I also had to get an overall picture of exactly how big this society actually was. I can again assure you that it was no easy task. Fortunately, with good team spirit as well as team play from the executive council members, I am glad to share the following details with you. At the end of year 2007, there are a total of 468 life members. Within the year of 2007, 18 became life members, 21 joined as annual members while 4 renewed their membership. Another 3 paid their registration fee with the intention of becoming annual members. Both Ms. Hee and I are still counting the annual members hence currently there is no figure to share. Hopefully, the data will be available during the forth coming 11th AGM.
