Report to the AGM 2008 of the Malaysian Menopause Society till March 2008

Dr H. C. Ong was appointed as the Editor of the Berita Menopos after the 10th AGM 2007 by the President of the Malaysian Menopause Society (MMS), Dr Liew Fah Onn. An Editorial Committee was formed to handle the newsletter during this tenure of office, (starting from the June 2007 issue), comprising Dr H.C. Ong (Editor), Dr Liew Fah Onn, Puan Hardip Kaur, Puan Lim Ai Loon, and Ms Angeline N. Ong.

Guidelines to the Editorial Committee were mainly

1. to reduce cost of printing
2. to improve on the quality of contents, both for medical & non-medical members
3. not to waste unnecessary space

The Editorial Committee decided

1. to reduce the number of pages of the Berita to 24
2. to reduce unwarranted pages to single colour
3. to use a thinner paper quality
4. to print only 1000 copies for MMS use
5. any extra copies to be printed for other various activities of the MMS will be entirely under the budget of the respective activities
6. to reduce font size and to do away with redundant space, so as to be able to increase the number of articles and information into the Berita
7. to include sufficient number of articles of relevance and interest to both medical and non-medical members of MMS
8. to invite contributions from members.

The Editorial Committee has done its best to produce the following issues of the Berita Menopos, i.e. June 2007, September 2007, December 2007, March 2008. The Editorial Committee members have communicated with each other very frequently through electronic mail, and we have had a few electronic committee meetings.

We also have a healthy budget ! We have inserted more news & information. The Editorial Committee can only hope that its efforts have met with the approval of the members of MMS.

Certain unnecessary and unwarranted adverse comments had been made by certain members of MMS, which the Editorial Committee had chosen to ignore.
However, constructive criticisms are always welcome !
