EDITORIAL

The Editorial Committee of the Berita Menopos has served out 4 issues of our newsletter, i.e. June 2007, September 2007, December 2007, March 2008.
A report to the coming AGM 2008 is enclosed in this issue.

We hope that the information you have gathered from our newsletter has helped you either personally, in creating better awareness, or in assisting you in dealing with others. We will continue to improve as we go along.

Our principal supporters have been the following companies – Organon, Merck, Bayer Schering Pharma, Pro-Health, Wyeth, Eli-Lilly, and MSD(until Dec 07).
I would like to thank these sponsors for their support.

As Editor, I have set my priority in bringing out each issue on time, and I believe I have been successful. I hope you all will realize the amount of work put in for each issue, but it has been a challenge for us.

For me, I had promised the current President that I would take on this responsibility till the end of his term of office, and that is exactly what I will do. I believe that new blood should be injected into the Berita Menopos from the membership of MMS !

As our female population lives longer, we can already see that many agencies are beginning to focus on the aging woman. That is a good sign ! However, aging women should be wary about what is being offered, as some of the options in the market are a bit dubious. It would be entirely appropriate for women to check with their own doctors first before trying anything new !

For women, please remember that you are facing 2 issues as you age, i.e. aging and menopause. The world of anti-aging medicine is widening, and you could check out some of the anti-aging options that may help you in your aging years.
Thus, besides taking menopause medications / supplements, women have to also consider anti-aging options.

We must not be narrow-minded, instead we should open our minds to the many available and new innovations to help us through our aging years, especially the world
of traditional and herbal medicine, which incidentally has been accepted by our own Ministry of Health.

Such an approach, together with a healthy living lifestyle, will no doubt help the aging woman lead a fruitful and good quality of life. This would be the objective of any intervention proposed for the aging woman !

So, to all aging women, live long, live well, and live to the fullest !
