On a positive note, I’ve learned that no matter what happens, or how bad it seems today, life goes on, and it will be better tomorrow.
I’ve learned that you can tell a lot about a person by the way he/she handles these 3 things: a rainy day, lost luggage, and tangled Christmas tree lights.
I’ve learned that regardless of your relationship with your parents, you’ll miss them when they are gone from your life.
I’ve learned that making a ‘living’ is not the same as making a ‘life’.
I’ve learned that life sometimes gives you a second chance.
I’ve learned that you shouldn’t go through life with a catcher’s mitt on both hands. You need to be able to throw something back.
I’ve learned that if you pursue happiness, it will elude you. But if you focus on your family, your friends, the needs of others, your work and doing the best you can, happiness will find you.
I’ve learned that whenever I decide something with an open heart, I usually make the right decision.
I’ve learned that even when I have pains, I don’t have to be one!
I’ve learned that everyday you should reach out and touch someone. People love that human touch – holding hands, a warm hug, or just a friendly pat on the back.
I’ve learned that I still have a lot to learn.
I’ve learned that you should pass this to someone else you care about. I just did. Sometimes, they just need a little something to make them smile.

Is Your Thyroid Making You Fat ?
 
We’d all like to think so, but for 26% of women age 50+, this is no exaggeration. Sub-clinical hypothyroidism (SHT) is under-diagnosed in women, who are at greater risk for depression, diabetes, heart disease, and osteoporosis from an under-active thyroid.
 
It all starts from our adrenal glands, which begins to swell and change the levels of cortisol as we enter the transitional phase of menopause. As cortisol levels go up, so does insulin and we become more insulin resistant. This causes you to retain fluid as your metabolism starts to slow down. Remember – the more insulin resistant you become, the more fat you store. No wonder most women complain of a 10 pound weight gain in their 40s !
 
It’s not hard to determine if you have SHT. A simple blood test is done, called a thyroid panel along with a thyroid antibody test. If your TSH is 2 or greater, you have SHT. The first step in treatment is to remove iodinated salt from your diet as even small doses of iodine can lower your thyroid function even further. Switch to non-iodinated sea salt for a much better flavor. This will help your adrenal gland to function better, as the minerals in sea salt are important to the mineral-corticoid function of your adrenal gland. As a bonus, you won’t have puffy ankles to worry about.
