As with the MMS-organized World Menopause Day celebrations in the
last few years, this year’s celebrations which were held at the Grand Dorsett Subang (formerly known as Sheraton Subang Hotel), was a roaring success with over 500 participants!

Even as early as 9 am, a huge crowd was already queuing up to register and collect attractive goodie bags. As soon as they have collected their name tags, no time was lost in visiting the various booths displaying products and services for health, finances, wellbeing, handicraft and more.

Most popular were the booths offering free bone density tests, urinary pads and other products related to women’s health such as the cervical cancer vaccine, scar treatment, menopause therapy and others.
The MMS booth was also top on the list, with an endless stream of visitors dropping by to enquire about activities, sign up as members or renew lapsed memberships! A record 58 number of new members signed up as new members, a clear indication that the dedication of the new committee is starting to bear fruit.

The public forums witnessed full house attendance, with exciting topics lined up such as sexual health, alternative treatment for
menopause, cervical cancer, heart problems
and more. Esteemed speakers included former
MMS presidents, Dr Ong Hean Choon and
Dr Liew Fah Onn, as well as present MMS
president Dr Ho Choon Moy.

The highlight of the event was the MMS
Fashion Show, which featured 8 lucky MMS
members who had a wardrobe and beauty
makeover before performing a cat-walk for
the appreciative crowd. Their heart-warming
stories as well as their confidence and flair as
they wowed the crowd convinced everyone
that menopause need not be necessarily be a
dreaded event in life!

Special thanks go to Dr Liew Fah Onn, the
organising chairperson of WMD 2009 and
his team at the Assunta Hospital, Propharm
and Unam for their hard work over the last 6
months. Sincere appreciation is also extended
to the sponsors and booth exhibitors for their
kind support and assistance.
